WE ARE STILL SEEING PATIENTS. LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR COVID-19 CHANGES.

Dear Patients,

By now you have heard that states like California, Illinois and New York have issued a mandatory Shelter in Place, Stay at Home or Safer at Home order for its residents. Currently, Florida is not under such an order, but many of the counties and cities we serve currently are. Please know that Elite Coastal Healthcare is exempted from such orders as healthcare qualifies under an essential service. Many would argue it’s one of the most important essential services in a time like this. Therefore, we will continue to be open and available to our patients during a Shelter in Place, Stay at Home or Safer at Home order.

What is a Shelter in Place and how does it differ from a Stay at Home or Safer at Home order?
In the case of the corona virus, a Shelter in Place order mandates residents to stay in their homes and limit travel to essential trips, like picking up groceries, going to the bank or receiving medical care. Shelter in Place orders generally close all non-essential businesses including restaurants, bars, nightclubs, gyms, etc. It states that individuals must maintain at least six feet from people when you go outside, even for exercise, which is permitted. In most cases, the terms Shelter in Place, Stay at Home and Safer at Home are being used interchangeably. The difference can depend on the level of enforcement of the order.

What types of visits can I have at Elite Coastal Healthcare during a Shelter in Place, Stay at Home or Safer at Home order?
Elite Coastal Healthcare is offering both well and sick visits during this time. For the safety of our patients, we are performing some of the following:
•    Scheduling to reduce wait times and restricting waiting room time
•    Sterilizing rooms between each patient visit including door knobs and faucets
•    Offering tele-medicine when appropriate
•    Performing car visits for any patients with upper respiratory symptoms
•    Encouraging patients to notify us of any fever, cough, or possible exposures prior to attending any visits
•    Seeing patients in the office ONLY on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to allow for more thorough disinfection of the rooms between days.
•    Restricting access to the office to patients only- Please do not bring a guest unless they are required for your care.
•    All staff are wearing N-95 masks to protect you as well as themselves from any potential respiratory transmission.

Well visits are a vital component to monitoring your health, as are the routine visits to manage chronic medical conditions.   As such these visits are encouraged.

Shelter in Place, Stay at Home and Safer at Home orders do not affect our responsibility to our patients and their families. We will continue to provide LOVING CARE during this time.

What does your DNA say about you?

We offer comprehensive evaluations with many Genetic testing options such as

Myriad Genetics (Hereditary Cancer):  Approximately five to 10 percent of all cancers are hereditary. Patients with a hereditary cancer syndrome are at a significant risk for developing an initial cancer and a second primary cancer. Hereditary cancer is more prevalent than might be expected. In fact, there are very likely patients in your practice who carry the genetic mutations responsible for increased cancer risk. Identifying these patients through appropriate testing can potentially lead to improved treatment options, more appropriate plans for risk management, and, ultimately, better outcomes.

PgX Each person has a unique Genetic structure. Prescription medication can often create unwanted, and at times deadly side effects. If you are experiencing side effects related to a drug regimen change , or prescription addition, than a PGX test may unlock the mystery.  This report explains what a PGX test is, how it is interpreted, and the benefits for those suffering adverse prescription effects.

Cologuard:  As the only FDA-approved test based on stool DNA science, Cologuard finds 92% of colon cancers and 69% of the highest-risk precancers with 87% specificity.  Cologuard is not for everyone. Cologuard is not a replacement for diagnostic or surveillance colonoscopy in patients at high risk for colorectal cancer. Both false positives and false negatives do occur. In a clinical study of Cologuard, 13% of people without cancer or precancer tested positive. Any positive should be followed by a diagnostic colonoscopy. A negative Cologuard test result does not guarantee absence of cancer or advanced adenoma. Following a negative result, patients should continue participating in a screening program at an interval and with a method appropriate for the individual patient.

Allergy season is upon us!

Contact us for Allergy Testing and consultations for Allergy management including options for non-injection immuno-therapy.

We also offer extensive Food Allergy testing through Mediator Release Test (MRT®).  MRT is the only sensitivity blood test in the entire world that quantifies the degree of the inflammatory response in sensitivity pathways. That means in addition to identifying the foods with the highest degree of reaction, more importantly, MRT is able to identify the foods that have the lowest degree of reaction (in sensitivity pathways).

Immunologically speaking, the least reactive MRT foods are your best foods (as long as you have taken account of any food allergies and celiac disease). The least reactive MRT tested foods have the highest probability of being well-tolerated. And if they are foods the patient likes to eat, which they usually are, those are the foods that will form the basis for the multi-phased LEAP eating plan.
